Project #41: Infrared Detector (Light)

This was the last project that we would be working out of the Light Snap Circuit Kit. It was by far our tiniest circuit, only requiring seven pieces. We built the project and turned on the switch. The point of the circuit was to control a red light using a remote control. Lucky for us, Norberto had a remote on his phone so we used it to control the light. We took turns controlling the remote, which would send an infrared signal to the infrared detector causing the red light to flash.

Norberto decided to try and see how far we could control the circuit with the remote. He steadily backed away from the circuit and it still received the signal. It wasn't until Norberto got to the door that the light stopped working, so you can control the infrared detector from a far distance.

All three of enjoyed this project for it was interactive. It went down on the list as one of our favorites.

Videos of the finished project:

Watch us control our circuit with a remote and see how well it works from a distance.
